About 11 persons have been reported dead in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State after an alleged ambush by Fulani herdsmen
Assailants suspected to be Fulani herdsmen were said to have attacked and killed no fewer than 11 people at Diyaen junction in Rim District of Riyom Local Government Area.
According to reports, the killings took place on Tuesday night, leaving 9 persons dead on the spot and two others in the hospitals while three others are reportedly battling between life and dead.
The victims were said to have been returning from a market in the area known as Makera market driving in a Golf-3 vehicle when the incident occurred. They were attacked while offloading at Dtiyan junction, near Gako village in Rim Community.
ASP Tyopev Martias Terna, the state’s Police Public Relations officer (PPRO) has also confirmed the incident, noting that investigation has already commenced on the matter and the perpetrators will soon be tracked down and brought to book.
Spokesperson in charge of internal security of the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau state, Captain Usmar Adams has also revealed that military personnel have already been ordered to the area to provide security.
