It was reported in the wake of Argentina’s 4-2 defeat to Nigeria that striker, Sergio Aguero had fainted at half time in the dressing room and was rushed to hospital.
Aguero had scored to put Argentina 2-0 up in the match played in Krasnodar, Russia but a first half Iheanacho freekick and second half goals from Alex Iwobi and Brian Idowu saw the Super Eagles come from behind to secure a 4-2 Victory over the South American side.
But it seems Aguero did not exactly pass out as widely reported, even though its true that he did have some issues with his health at half time and had to be withdrawn and taken to hospital.
According to the FA of Argentina, the 29-year-old Manchester City striker felt dizzy at half time and had to be taken to hospital to “carry out routine studies as a precaution”.
The FA also later confirmed that the striker had been discharged from hospital and, “is already in the hotel along with the rest of the team.”
In the same vein, Aguero’s club side, Manchester City in a statement confirmed that he had been cleared by doctors to return to the club ahead of this weekend’s EPL game “after suffering a dizzy spell” during the friendly game
“Sergio never lost consciousness, and was taken to hospital for precautionary medical checks. He will be assessed by the club’s medical team ahead of this weekend’s Premier League trip to Leicester City,” Manchester City noted in the statement
