Officers of the Nigerian Army have invaded the Afaraukwu home of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the now-proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, in Umuahia Abia State.
Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother to Nnamdi Kanu confirmed to newsmen that the soldiers invaded the premises of the Kanu’s on Sunday, and allegedly ransacked the house, carting away with some items like technological items, generating sets, clothes, among other things
He further called on the international community to intervene in the matter saying: “The international community should prevail on the Nigeria Army to stop raiding our home again. We have been telling the Army to produce my bother wise whereabouts has remained unknown since after the September 14 military invasion of our compound.”
The Nigerian military have also reportedly confirmed the operation but however, denied taking any household items from Kanu’s house
Responding to the allegations, the Desk Officer in charge of Operation Python Dance in Abia state said,“We were there in search of weapons, wno household items were removed from Kanu’s home. somebody was arrested with weapon in the compound”.
He further stated that the operation was jointly carried out by the military and the police
“The things removed, may be atechnical items, somebody was also arrested with a weapon in theh compound,” he added
According to him, the exercise was carried out based on intelligence infomation that there were arms hidden in the house.
