Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has announced his return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following his recent departure from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku made the announcement on Sunday during a live video session on Facebook
Atiku, in the video relayed on his official Facebook page, explained that he chose to leave the PDP four years ago because he believed that the party had derailed from the principles of equity, democracy and social justice upon which it was founded.
He further explained that his decision to join the APC afterwards was predicated on the party’s promise to create 3 million jobs every year. He however, noted that the Party had failed to fulfil that promise as millions of Nigerians have, in the last one year, lost their jobs.
He went on to announce his decision to return to the PDP to contest the 2019 presidential election.
Tweeting about the announcement Paul Ibe, media aide to the former Vice President, wrote;
“Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar @atiku on Facebook Live announced his return to the PDP @OfficialPDPNig @AtikuOrg”
