President Buhari has ordered the immediate disengagement of Abdulrasheed Maina, a former Pensions tax force boss who had been declared wanted for corruption, but was last week reinstated to a higher position in the Nigerian Civil Service The President has insisted for investigations to be carried out on the circumstances surrounding Mr. Maina’s recall to the civil service. Biafra: President Buhari Approves Pension Payment to Veterans of the Biafra War.

President Buhari has approved payment of pension to soldiers, policemen and paramilitary officers, who were involved in the Biafra war that lasted between 1967 and 1970. Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has, in a ruling on Tuesday, ordered Senator Eyninnaya Abaribe, and two others who are standing as sureties for Nnamdi Kanu, wanted leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, to provide the defendant in court or risk forfeiting their N300m bail bond or going to jail. Justice Nyako gave the ruling at the resumed hearing of the case of treasonable felony brought against Nnamdi Kanu and some other IPOB members.
