Ronaldo provided the assist that saw Ricardo Quaresma displace goal keeper, Guillermo Ochoa to open the scoring for Portugal in the 34th minute.
Shortly after, Portugal seemed to have doubled their lead, before the referee, through the help of the VAR, correctly canceled the goal scored by Pepe in the 21st-minute.
Mexico, however, drew level in the 42nd minute after Javier Hernandez timed a close range header into the net.
Portugal looked to have sealed a 86th minute victory after Cedric Soares scored for the European champions, but Hector Moreno’s stoppage time header evened the score line to make it 2-2 on the night.
