Biafran women, yesterday, stormed the venue of the ‘Handshake across the Niger summit’ held in Enugu State to make their stand known on the current topical issue in Nigeria. The women made it clear to the President-General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, other Nigerians and the world at large that what they want is nothing but Biafra restoration through referendum.
The Biafran women dressed in their respective traditional attires made their positions known to the world that Nigerian government and her agents like Chief John Nwodo should carve out Biafra for Biafrans and restructure Nigeria for Nigerians who needs restructuring since what they and the people of South Eastern Nigeria want is not restructuring of Nigeria but restoration of Biafra.
Biafran women intercepted John Nina Nwodo from giving a speech at the summit with shouts of “BIAFRA IS WHAT WE WANT, NOT RESTRUCTURING”, “CARVE OUT BIAFRA FOR BIAFRANS AND RESTRUCTURE NIGERIA FOR NIGERIANS” vibrated throughout the hall.
The event which was tagged, “Handshake Across The Niger: A Celebration Of Igbo/Yoruba Friendship Beyond Brotherhood,” is an alliance of the initiative of an Igbo group, Nzuko Umunna, under the auspicies of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Yoruba’s Afenifere group and the Middle-Belt section of the country represented by former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang.
