Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga is dragging US rap Icon, Nasir Jones aka Nas to court for allegedly failing to appropriately deliver a verse for a song he was contracted to perform with MI in 2013
M.I and Chocolate City filed the lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court accusing Nas and Ronnie Goodman of Mass Appeal Records of duping Chocolate City after Nas received a $50,000 payment to contribute a rap verse on one of MI’s song with specific agreed contents which the rapper failed to deliver.
The details of the contract were that Nas should mention in his verse: “M.I, Chocolate City, Nigeria, Queens, New York, Mandela, Trayvon Martin, and the struggles of Africans and African Americans”
According to the lawsuit, even though Nas did deliver a verse, he however, failed to include the contents agreed upon in the contract.
Consequently, Chocolate City requested that Nas re-records the verse including the correct content which the rapper has still not done despite Chocolate City’s fulfillment of the agreed $50,000 payment.
