Nigeria 1-1 Algeria: Late Brahimi penalty denies Eagles victory

Porto forward, Yaccine Brahimi benefited from a controversial penalty call to deny the Super Eagles maximum points as Algeria held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in their final Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifying series at the Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui in Algiers on Friday

The visiting Nigerian team dominated proceedings for most part of the game and were consequently rewarded with a goal in the 63rd minute after midfielder, John Ogu scored a stunner to give the super eagles the lead .

Ogbu’s goal appeared to have secured a 1-0 win for the Nigerian team before a late controversially adjudged spot kick was converted by captain Yaccine Brahimi to level the scoreline in the dying minutes of the game

Coach Gernot Rohr decided to go with an almost fresh line up seeing as the team had already qualified for next year’s World cup in Russia.
