The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has directed the service chiefs to return to the Military Command Centre in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Osinbajo, gave the directive yesterday, after meeting with the military service chiefs, at the State House, in Abuja.
A decision for the military to acquire more devices that would facilitate surveillance in order to see and anticipate attackers from a distance was also reached at the meeting
This is coming few days after the Book Haram terrorist group increased its spate of attacks in Borno, with the Governor of the State, Kashim Shettima cautioning that the terrorists group should not be taken for granted.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting meeting, the Minister of defence said:
“The raining season is a difficult moment for us. We cannot dominate the environment like what we do during the dry season. But effort is geared towards regaining back our areas and we assure that all these ambushes that are happening regularly would be stopped.”
