Suspected herdsmen, yesterday, attacked two villages in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state killing 10 people in the attack.
The attackers then razed down houses during their operation after most of the villagers took to their heels during the attack to save their lives, many of who sustained gunshot injuries while escaping the pandemonium.
According to reports shared on Facebook, the community leader in one of the villages said, “It is unfortunate that since on Friday night we encountered the attack of herdsmen in Dangaji village. They were shooting and burning houses and people had to run for their dear lives.
“This morning (Saturday) they went to another village, Unguwan Gajere and killed about nine men. One of those wounded died on the way to the hospital”.
The report further said that spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, Husseini Mukhtar, has confirmed the attack but said five people were killed, mainly members of the vigilante group, while stating that the manhunt for the assailants continues.
Saying the attackers had already vanished before the of security operatives to the scene of the attack.
