The Global Igbo Alliance, GIA, An association of Igbo in the diaspora, has said that Nigeria’s current structure is not working. The group said: ‘Nigeria is currently not working and has been like this for decades with things getting worse by the day, there is need to sit down and re-evaluate ourselves as a country. Supreme Court to rule on Dasuki’s detention March 2, 2018.

The Supreme Court has fixed judgment on an appeal by former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, challenging his alleged indefinite detention for 2nd March 2018. The panel of five Justices, led by Dattijo Mohammed, gave the date after counsels to the parties in the case adopted their addresses early this week. The ex-NSA had on June 15, 2016 at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, lost his bid to enforce his freedom after securing bails on all the charges against him. The former National Security Adviser, Col. The Nigerian national team as well as teams from other African countries featuring in the Russia 2018 World Cup will each receive the sum of $500,000 from the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF. We have had 419 cases in court – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it had been involved in 419 court cases over election matters from 2016 to date. Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this on Tuesday at an interactive session with a group of civil society organizations, under the umbrella of the Situation Room in Abuja. He said: “Between 2016 and 2017, till this week, we have appeared for 419 cases in four different courts; so, I will say that in the last two years INEC has been dragged to court 419 times. “Conversely, 187 of them are at Federal and state high courts while 141 are at the Court of Appeal.
