The Taraba Police Command on Sunday confirmed the abduction of Barrister Hosea Ibi, a member of the Taraba state House of Assembly representing Takum I by three unidentified gunmen.
The Taraba Police command’s spokesman, David Misal said in Jalingo, the state capital, that Mr. Ibi was kidnapped on Saturday at about 8:45pm in his hometown of Takum, Taraba State.
“We got information last night that three men riding on a motorcycle accosted somebody whom we later confirmed to be the lawmaker representing Takum I, Hon. Hosea Ibi, forced him to climb the bike with them and took him away.
“I can confirm to you that the lawmaker was kidnapped last night in Takum. That is all I can tell you for now,” Mr. Misal said.
The Taraba Police command’s spokesman said the command has mobilized its men to Takum to rescue the lawmaker.
Takum is the home town of Darius Ishaku, the executive governor of Taraba state and Mr. Ibi represents Takum 1 in the State House of Assembly.
Online reports said, “the kidnappers stormed the resident of Barr. Ibi on Motor Cycle at the time he was hosting some politicians that came to felicitate with him this festive period.
“Immediately they entered, they seized all handsets belonging to the people in the compound.
“They then dragged the member to their motorcycles and whisked him away without saying anything”, the report said.
