Tension brews as religious disparity takes over academic activities in Katsina Federal University Dutsin-ma.
The dispute arose on the basis of Muslim students claiming favouritism to Christians by the former Vice Chancellor, James Ayatse in filling academic and non-academic positions.
According to Sahara reporters, this brewing tension has led to the temporary closure of the university until things return back to normalcy.
The said crisis started on Friday when Muslim students mobilized and protested against Christian employees at the university.
A security guard by name Andrew Moses on speaking to Sahara reporters said “We saw strange faces stationed at Academic Department housing the university management staff, including the Vice Chancellor. When we inquired about their mission, they simply said, ‘we are here for jihad against Christians in the university’.”
The mobilization of students is reportedly linked to the recent reinstatement of a Professor of the school-Professor Haruna Kaita who strongly believes that Christian employees are favoured over their Muslim counterparts.
